A stay at Malhada promises not only relaxing exuberance in silence, but also the direct experience of an enchanting cultural landscape, whose history can be encountered behind every hill in the form of civilisational artefacts and centuries-old cultural plantings.

These traces are literally at your feet, waiting to be discovered and enjoyed as a place of retreat. This applies to the unspoilt nature as well as to our spacious grounds, which are exclusively accessible to our guests and feature an alfaroba grove, traditionally landscaped gardens on the hillside, terraces and a covered outdoor kitchen with its own herb bed.

Old bakehouse

Comfort is a tapestry woven from hundreds of sensory impressions. We are confident that the plateau in front of our renovated Malhada bakery will make it into the top three of your favourite places during your holiday.

Freshly brewed Galão in the morning or a chilled Vinho Verde at the end of the day can be enjoyed here to the fullest.

This spot right in front of our houses is often the starting point for adventures into the countryside and is equally suitable for letting your thoughts run free.

We also know that time and again, a sketchpad has been opened here.

BBQ Area

Our outdoor kitchen is another invitation to gather for extensive socialising under the open sky, as it is available to all our guests.
And that’s in all weathers, because the traditional covered roof of this little refuge for culinary delights in the middle of nature offers protection from the sun and keeps you dry.

Anyone who reads the reviews about Malhada will notice that we love to cook and have therefore ensured that the houses are equipped accordingly. We are therefore delighted that our guests also succumb to the charm of Tavira’s markets and make enthusiastic use of the barbecue.

We have planted important ingredients for you right in the small herb garden, and our favourite Portuguese cookbook is available in both houses for you to try out.

Boules Court

The design of the two houses and the surrounding grounds reveal a lot about our passions.
At first glance, however, a boules court does little to hint at the origins of two gallery owners from Hohwacht Bay in the North of Germany.

Because we have now spent half our lives as newcomers, our CVs also list France, and boules, as a sporting aspect of the culture of enjoyment, fits in perfectly with the laid-back lifestyle of the Eastern Algarve.

Conveniently, our levelled boules court is located right next to the outdoor kitchen, allowing us to end the day in a relaxed manner with a glass of wine in hand.
