Rolling hills stretch above the quaint harbor town of Tavira in the east of the Algarve . Right in the middle of this hinterland Malhada do Sao is situated as a tangle of houses nestling up “em bande” on a ridge of rock formed by a river . In addition to it´s fairly picturesque course, this stream also offers attractive opportunities for natural refreshment in some places. As hosts, we offer two self-sufficient vacation homes on these premises with fabolous hilly landscapes facing views in easy distance by car via a 2.5 km white gravel road branching off from the rural Tavira road.
You´ll discover carefully renovated our houses Casa Luz and Casa Colinas hand in hand with regional craftsmen and their knowledge of local techniques and materials until 2022. We´ve particularly focussed on the potential of tradition and timeless modernity in harmony with consistend sustainability. Both houses are perfectly equipped for 4 guests. Typical interior colours and patterns have been harmonized with fresh contrasts and visualize the historical DNA of the Malhada, rounded up by an interplay with Santa Catarina elements.
We´ve had our first encounter with the Malhada while looking for a suitable location for our transnational Artists in Residence project Cultura Viva which immediately culminated in turning up of a place of longing.
For us, this extraordinary piece of land quickly kept the promise of everything we love about this part of the Algarve – openness, light and a feeling of natural vividness surrounded by green nature.
No matter which perspective you choose on our different terraces, you´ll always find a fixed point for a state of mind of varied serenity .
